The more things change, the more they stay the same. When I attended Roxoboro Junior High School in the mid-1970s, games against the other district schools were always a little bit more intense.
Now my son attends Roxboro Middle School, and the same matchups continue. On May 10, the day after losing to Roxboro in a baseball game at Forest Hills, Wiley’s team made the trip to Roxboro for a second matchup. Wiley led all the way until the bottom of the 7th (the last inning in middle school games) , when a lead-off walk was followed by consecutive base hits to score the winning run. Roxboro won 5-4. Up this week, weather permitting: A 2-game series between Roxboro and Monticello.
